Helmets are about to suffer the same fate as arms, arguably worse. While most arm mods give minor buffs in PvE, helmet mods include ammo finders that bypass Destiny 2 Strategy’s otherwise random ammo economy. Most players run two ammo finders in PvE, but now they’ll be forced to use one if they want to take advantage of Charged with Light or other Orb mods. Crucible players will need to forgo targeting mods altogether if they want their Primary and Special weapons to spawn Orbs.

I think the best way of showcasing my point is to simply tell you what new Guardians go through in today’s version of Destiny. They are brought to a character screen, create a class that sounds cool to them, then are immediately sent into a Dares of Eternity game . Before you even know how to throw a grenade, Destiny throws you into a wacky game show with a celestial horse and some hooded NPC that keeps breaking the fourth wall. To charge a generator, you must fire and hold a Scorch Cannon round onto the generator. When you fire the Scorch Cannon, hold your fire input. This will begin charging the shot when it lands, accumulating energy that gains stages every few seconds. Horizon Forbidden West will mainly be about Aloy’s journey, but it’s not outside the realms of possibility that another woman could feature as a NPC or villain and step her way into our hearts and onto our faces.
Bungie has made it clear that they want buildcrafting to be the next pillar of Destiny’s core design. It’s why armor mods have become more and more important, and it’s why the Light subclasses are getting reworked this year . On a fundamental level, I agree with Bungie’s vision. I’d love to play a version of Destiny where every player you meet has a unique build that kicks alien ass in its own way. But with the current state of armor mods, those builds are locked behind layers of RNG and hundreds of hours of grinding. To realize a version of Destiny where every Guardian is truly their own legend, it’s time we reduce mod bloat, not make it worse.
I don’t think Legends Arceus will offer anything of value in the Lady Dimitrescu stakes. It may, as New Pokemon Snap ‘s Professor Mirror did, offer a handsome bear daddy, but that’s a conversation for another day.
