Welcome to the home on the internet for the Southwest Symposium Biennial Archaeological Conference. The Southwest Symposium organization was founded in 1988 to promote new ideas and new directions in the archaeology of the U.S. Southwest and Mexican Northwest.

The 17th biennial conference will be held in Tempe, AZ on January 30th-February 1st 2020 on the Arizona State University Campus in the Ventana Ballroom within the Memorial Union. The theme for the 2020 Conference is “Thinking Big: New Approaches to Synthesis and Partnership in the Southwest/Northwest.” We are also releasing an open call for individual posters or poster sessions that fit within this theme or focus on other aspects of archaeology and history in the U.S. Southwest and Northern Mexico.

Thursday, January 30th 5:00 PM –
Saturday, February 1st 5:00 PM

Abstracts for papers the organized sessions are available here.
